‘My name is Rania, and I am a student of Software Engineering at the University of Palestine. I live in Gaza, where life used to be beautiful and stable. I was lucky to have a sister who looks a lot like me, three wonderful brothers, and loving parents. My father was a dentist, and he supported our family, being our source of security and comfort.
But everything changed suddenly. The war left us no chance, and my father passed away because of the bombings, leaving us children without support. Our family became orphans, and our mother tries her best to hold on, but life has become extremely difficult.
We have been forced to displace ten times from place to place, leaving behind all our belongings, memories, toys, and books, starting over each time, but we always return to the starting point because of the ongoing aggression against us. Each displacement makes life harder, and every day we live is filled with fear and anxiety.
Despite all this pain, I still dream of a better future. I dream of completing my studies in software engineering and one day using my skills to help my community and my family who suffer with me. My life may have changed, but my determination has not broken, and I believe that hope is what keeps us going even in the darkest circumstances.’
