Hi to humanity,
My name is Abdelraheem Kayed Abu Saif. I am 33 years old from North Gaza. I was a car electrician before Oct. 7, 2023.
I’ll tell you my story before and after this terrifying date.
Since I was young, I had a burning passion for cars. I worked hard and opened my own auto shop in 2018. Unfortunately, all my dreams were lost when my business was bombed in seconds.
I am married to the love of my life Rawan, who is 27. We have two beautiful daughters, Huda (4) Sara (2) and Lara (born in February 2025.) We lost our unborn baby in 2023 when my wife Rawan fell down the stairs as she ran to find our Huda the day of bombing of our family member’s home. But God has blessed us with Lara.
We lost 15 family members in one second in October. My wife’s uncle’s family.
We once lived in a house built with love and happiness. It was taken away from us.
We now relocate often with my 66-year-old father Kayed, my 59-year-old mother Huda.
We each have lost our homes. We are without adequate shelter and we fear the drop of bombs daily.
My mother and father suffer from chronic diseases, as we all grieve my missing brother. My nephew Obaida was also severely injured when the adjacent house of our displaced house was bombed. He was fortunately evacuated last year.
We made the journey to Rafah, where we lived in tents and suffered from cold, starvation, fear and disease. Then suddenly they considered Rafah a war zone and we were forced to move to the center of Gaza.
To be clear, there is no safe zone in Gaza with every place targeted. Our three daughters shout to planes dropping aid hoping they will drop near us but no luck.
We ask for your help. $1 goes far for us, especially if multiple people can give. We hate even asking for $1. We are not beggars but this situation has made it clear that we cannot save our children without your support.
The bombings leave us without shelter and no money. As a car electrician, I will accept dangerous jobs to fix cars in order to feed my children. However, cars have been bombed all around Gaza. There aren’t enough jobs to raise enough to get us out.
Right now aid that is let in is being stolen and sold in black market. We pay very high prices for basic necessities. For months we couldn’t find sugar and it’s very hard to even get flour for bread. Baby formula and diapers also cost more than $100.
Rawan is a 5th grade English Teacher. She has lost so many of her students. The school was bombed. She cannot teach. Our internet connection is so awful.
We are seeking support to evacuate my elderly father and mother with the rest of my family to Egypt . Actually the war has drained our savings completely so I’ve nothing now. All I wish is to reunite with my family in a safe situation and rebuild a safe life for my children.
How will we use the money?
Your donations will cover:
-Basic necessities: (water, food, baby supplies, elderly supplies, injured supplies)
-Passport fees ($500 each)
-Border crossing fees ($5,000 per adult and $2,500 for each child (this was price before the border closed in May 2024, we won’t know true fee until the border reopens)
-Temporary accommodation and flights out of Egypt.
I’m grateful for any help, actually a little bit can make a big difference for me . Your support means more than financial assistance, it is a type of solidarity, humanity, justice, and philanthropy.
Love,
Abdelraheem
