I am Heather from the United States. For almost a year, I have sponsored a campaign on behalf of some children seperated from their parents in Gaza.

This campaign is on behalf of the childrens’ parents, stranded in Egypt for nearly 2 years, barred by Israel from reentering Gaza to reunite with their children.

Fayrouz and Osama’s family operated a very successful textile business in Gaza. In early October of 2023, Fayrouz had a scheduled medical procedure in Cairo, and Osama thought it would be a good opportunity for him to schedule a procedure to correct his vision. Together with their youngest child, Keenan, they departed for Egypt, leaving the older children (aged 5 – 15 at the time) with grandparents & aunties.

When the war began, they attempted to return home but were denied entry via Rafah. Egypt was charging about $5000 per person to exit Gaza, and these parents did not have access to amount of cash needed to evacuate the children. Fundraising began for evacuation, but then the crossings were closed completely. Fayrouz tried again to return, this time via seaport. She was denied again.

The family’s shops and textile warehouse in Gaza have been destroyed. Their winter supply shipments were sitting at customs when the war began. All of their capital has been destroyed. The family home is rubble.

I speak to Fayrouz frequently, one mom to another. We can only imagine the depths of despair she has endured. She asked me to create this campaign because their savings is completely depleated. There are employment restraints for non-citizens in Egypt, and they are having a tough time making the rent payments.
