Layan’s Light – A Family’s Plea for Survival in Gaza
United States
Hello, my name is Layan. I’m only four years old, but I’ve already seen more fear and sadness than most children should.
I used to have a home. I used to play with my toys and laugh with my baby brother Ahmed, who was born just before the war began. I’m old enough to remember that life is different now, but not old enough to understand why Now, everything is gone. Our house in Gaza was destroyed. Mommy and Daddy say we had to leave because it wasn’t safe anymore. Now we live in a crowded camp where there are no toys, no quiet nights, and no room to play.
Daddy (his name is Abdul Rahman) used to work at a big store called LC Waikiki. He studied hard and earned a master’s degree. But the war took his job, our home, and our peaceful life.
We’ve moved four times already. Mommy cries sometimes when she thinks we’re asleep. Daddy tries to be strong, but I know he’s tired. Baby Ahmed needs milk and diapers, and we don’t always have them.
We dream of getting out of this place. We want to go to Egypt, where it might be safe, where we can live in a small apartment, eat real food, and maybe even smile again. This is not possible today due to closed borders (yes, we are trapped ), but we are trying to save for this dream. Until then, the funds collected here will be used by our family to survive. If anything is left, we will put it aside to one day buy our freedom.
Please Help Us
Even though I’m little, I know what kindness feels like. If you are reading this, maybe you can help us. A small donation means food, safety, or warmth for me, Ahmed, Mommy, and Daddy.
Your help can bring back my light.
Please don’t let it go out.
With love,
Layan
