Support Raed’s Family in Gaza
United States
My name is Shelby Tuseth and I have the sincerest pleasure of knowing Raed and his family through a friend’s introduction. Raed is a 29 y/o Palestinian in Gaza, and lives with his younger brother and sister (Youssef & Yasmine), mother (Nafin), and father (Wael).
Youssef & Raed introducing themselves & speaking on their campaign
Raed went to college for business administration. His dream was to open up a chicken business in Gaza but that’s changed to living in a safety with his family. He held a job before October 2023 and hasn’t been able to earn any money since. Altogether, his family has accumulated a lot of debt and trauma from living under occupation and war.
“Last night, there was a bombing close to our place. The sound of the explosions was very strong. Unfortunately for two years of this situation, we never get used to it.”
Raed and his family have been living the worst days of their lives in displacement. In the beginning of the war, they were forced to flee their home to southern Gaza. When they returned to their neighborhood — they found their home completely destroyed.
“We are a Palestinian family from Gaza living in indescribable conditions after losing everything. Our house was bombed during the war, forcing us to live in a tent without shelter, security, or even enough food for days.”
Raed’s family is experiencing indescribable conditions under the genocide and aid blockade. They have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to cover their food and water. Raed told me a kilogram of flour costed $28.50 USD.
“The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening by the day. Prices of basic goods have skyrocketed, debts have piled up, and we are no longer able to provide for our daily needs.”
IMMEDIATE GOAL (~$10,000):
~ $2,500/month for food, water, and medicine due to difficult living conditions and high prices.
“If it costs $70/day minimum to feed a family of five, that = $2,100/month. I also need to purchase medication for my father as he has cancer. We need approximately $2,000-$2,500 to live the simplest life.”
LONG TERM GOAL (~$40,000+):
~$35,000 for evacuation costs:
“I will get the rest of the family out of Gaza to live in safety away from the war. The cost for us is approximately $7,000-$35,000. When the crossing opens, I will take my father out of Gaza for cancer treatment in Egypt. My father will get a medical transfer to provide him with housing, food, and drinks.”
~$11,000 for debt payments:
“The situation has worsened for the past 7 months, which forced us to resort to borrowing from relatives and friends, with an average of $1500 x 7 months = $10,500. This is a legitimate debt on my family, and I must pay them back.”
“Your support, no matter the amount, can make a significant difference in helping us escape this cycle of violence and uncertainty. By contributing to this campaign, you are providing a lifeline for my family to rebuild, heal, and start anew.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering our plea. Your kindness and generosity will make a profound difference in our lives.”
