Butterfly of Hope – Afghan Support
Australia

Hello Everyone!
We are beginning a new charity that aims to help the displaced people forcibly deported back to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan as well as from elsewhere. Several governments are no longer letting people seeking safety stay. All these people have previously fled Afghanistan because they were in immediate danger. So now, they are back in limbo and in danger. This charity will be called the Butterfly of Hope Humanitarian Organisation.
My name is Christopher Schmidt. I will be running the Australian end of operations with Murtaza Qasemi running the Afghan end from Afghanistan. Jessie Wells, from Brisbane is an advisor and director. This charity will provide food, clothing, shelter and basic help with medical supplies to the displaced people in the border areas close to Iran and Pakistan. We will register the organisation as a not-for-profit in Australia and apply for tax deductibility status with the Australian Taxation Office.
Imagine being forced to leave everything behind — your home, your job, your school — and being dropped at a border with nothing but the clothes on your back.
This is the reality for hundreds of thousands of Afghan families who have been forcibly deported from Iran, Pakistan and other countries in recent weeks. In June 2025 alone, nearly 290,000 people have been deported to Afghanistan or returned because they feared deportation. In just one day on the 1 July, 44,000 people were forcibly deported— the majority with no shelter, no food, no medicine and no hope.
A mother who returned from Iran says “My children cried all night in the open field. We had nothing to eat. I picked grass from the roadside and boiled it.”
The Crisis • Over 1 million + people are in immediate humanitarian need • Families are sleeping under the open sky, exposed to heat, cold, and disease • Children are going days without eating • Mothers are begging for medicine for their sick babies • Some are resorting to selling kidneys, child marriage, or worse — just to survive
Our Mission
We are launching an emergency aid campaign to provide:
✅ Basic food supplies ✅ Clean drinking water ✅ Essential medicines ✅ Temporary shelter materials ✅ Hygiene kits for women and children
Just $80 can support a family of 4 with food for a month. Why Donate? • Your donation goes directly to those in need • We are on the ground, distributing aid personally • We provide full transparency, photos, and updates • You could literally save a life today
This isn’t just a crisis. It’s a human tragedy unfolding before our eyes.
You Can Change a Life — Right Now
Whether you give $5 or $500, every dollar makes a difference. If you can’t donate, please share this campaign with others. Someone in your circle may be the answer to a family’s prayers and be able to help them.
Let’s come together as one humanity to lift up those who have lost everything. They need us — and they need us now.
Donate now. Share widely. Be a part of the mercy.
Donate. Share. Save a Life.

Initially, while we are establishing the registered charity, all funds raised will go into a joint account managed by myself and our advisor. This will require two signatures for withdrawals. Receipt books and full records will always be available. Of course, once the charity is set up, the accounts must be audited each year by law. However, we will submit the early accounts for auditing as well.

Hi All! We will be having regular fundraiser events to boost this campaign. Our first one will be an online movie session this Sunday 13 Jiul at 3 PM Adelaide time. Actually, the priority is an Afghan who I call “Hassan”, Its not his real name, but he has a chance at a specai refugee skilled visa that will see him come to Australia. He has obtained a job as a registered nurse in Sydney in Aged Care. However, if we can make this movie night huge, I can share some of the money with “Butterfly for Hope”. Tickets are available for $20 for adults, and $10 for children from Humanitix at this link: https://events.humanitix.com/a-nun-s-new-habit-story-of-sister-carmel-wauchope-3rd-screening . Please purchase a ticket whether you can come or not. IF you can’t afford a ticket after donating here you might like to donate to this fundraiser: https://chuffed.org/project/make-a-difference-to-refugees-now . Thank you and a particular thank you to those who have already donated to this and the other fundraiser, as well as buying tickets.
