On Thursday, May 8th, a Milford Massachusets resident originally from Ecuador was detained by ICE while at work. He spent the following month in detention, transferred between several facilities across state lines.
This has left his wife alone to both advocate for her husband’s case and take care of their son, a US-born citizen with special needs. Through her help, the help of friends, and legal representation, he has been released on bail as of Friday, June 6th. This has been no small feat, and the legal costs have been significant:
$5,500 to retain lawyers and apply for the bail
$1,500 for the bail itself
$10,000 to apply for asylum status
