With the entire area of Gaza city under invasion, Fares and his extended family of thirty have received evacuation orders. Like so many others they’re scrambling to make preparations and arrange a place to stay in the South.
An urgent request: We’re collecting extra funds right now for travel costs ($350) and setting up a new room to rent so the family can have shelter for sleeping ($700). Can we raise this by Friday? Even small amounts help towards the total!
This is in addition to the $100 needed for food every day, which provides each person three pieces of bread.

Fares asked me to post an update to share with all of you, so here are some of his thoughts with my words. As I’m sure you’ve seen, this past week in Gaza has been agonizing as starvation reaches new levels. There is a trickle of good stills coming into some markets in the city, with the most exorbitant prices we’ve seen yet, and a tiny drop of “aid” that requires risking death. Fares tells me the minimum amount needed for his family to have something small to eat every day is $200. They are so physically uncomfortable and have trouble sleeping because of hunger pains. Each day is a new challenge.
We don’t know how long this will last, but what has kept Fares and his family going over the past 21+ months is all of you. Your donations have been the difference between survival and death, and your conversations with Fares remind him that he has support all around the world.
You are all so dearly appreciated. Please keep going. Can you commit to a daily or weekly donation? Can you challenge your friends and family to match your donations? There is so much reason to be tired but it’s our work to stay committed and keep hope alive in this dear family.
