Help rebuild Taleen’s life
Spain
My name is Mireia. I’m from Barcelona, Spain, and I am helping Taleen, a young girl from Gaza who is trying to rebuild her life after an unimaginable tragedy. This is her story:
“I recognized my mom by her hair…”
With these heartbreaking words, Taleen identified her mother beneath the rubble.
Taleen, a 13-year-old girl from Gaza, miraculously survived a massacre that took the lives of those dearest to her. In a single day, she lost her grandfather, grandmother, and aunt. The next day, their home in the village of Al-Zawayda, west of Gaza, was bombed. Her mother, brother, and sister were killed, while Taleen lay trapped under the debris. Though her mother’s face was buried, Taleen recognized her by a strand of hair sticking out. That’s when she said the words that broke everyone’s heart: “I recognized my mom by her hair.”
She was pulled out by the civil defense team , physically exhausted, emotionally shattered. In mere moments, she had lost everything: her family, her home, her childhood. She survived only with her father, who suffers from heart disease and is unable to work or provide even their most basic needs.
Taleen and her father were later evacuated to Egypt, where they began a new and uncertain chapter. Although her mental health has slowly started to improve, the trauma, displacement, and high cost of living have left them struggling with a reality far beyond their means.
Today, Taleen is not asking for much. She simply hopes to receive the psychological treatment she needs, continue her education, and start a small jewelry business to support herself and her father and begin rebuilding her life with dignity.
She is not asking for charity , she is asking for a chance. A chance to live like any other child: to learn, to heal, and to dream again. A chance for her father to find peace, knowing his daughter has a future.
Your support today could be the difference between a life rebuilt and a dream buried just like the family she lost. Be the new beginning Taleen needs. Be the light that breaks through the darkness of her story.
