That bullet tore through his face, shattering his upper jaw, destroying his teeth, and permanently altering the shape of a smile he may no longer feel safe enough to wear.

His name is Yazan, he is 22 years old, and he is the brother of the popular clown in North Gaza named Uncle Majood. Majood has been working tirelessly to not only bring smiles to the children of North Gaza who are suffering through the worst times humanity can endure, he is also doing everything he can to put bread on his family’s table and raise funds for his brother Yazan’s surgery that he so desperately needs.

This campaign is not just about surgery, or food, or pain medication—though all of those are urgently needed despite likely not being available even with funds. It is about justice. It is about love in action. It is about giving this man a chance to heal, to speak again, to smile again, to live beyond the war they’ve tried to write into his bones.

I live in the northern Gaza Strip, specifically in Gaza City, Shujaiya neighborhood. The Israeli occupation destroyed my family’s house on 12/20/2023, and after a short period they prevented the entry of humanitarian aid into the northern Gaza Strip, and we have become living in a real famine, on 2/25/2024, I was shot in the face. This injury resulted in multiple fractures in the upper jaw bones, bone loss in the upper jaw, and the loss of 15 of my teeth. I underwent my first surgery, which was to install a platinum plate in my mouth, but I needed treatment, and I was unable to receive treatment due to its unavailability due to the Israeli occupation. A year after this injury, my family was able to send me to Egypt to complete my treatment. I went to Egypt on 2/8/2025. After a while, we got to know a doctor.

From Majood, his brother:

The doctor agreed to perform a dental implant operation for my brother, but due to lack of money, he stipulated that we pay the cost of the operation in installments. The cost of the operation was $3,000. After consulting the doctor, it was decided for Yazan… We will have another surgery in two weeks and it will cost $2,000. Although the date of the second surgery is approaching, we have not yet been able to pay the debts for the first surgery. As for my family and I’s situation here in the northern Gaza Strip, we have come to wish to eat a loaf of bread or the simplest things. We cannot buy food because it is very expensive. As for the housing situation, we do not own a home. We sleep in the street.
