Support PAB teachers to bring their families to safety
Canada
Hi! I’m Mira, a therapist based in Canada that has been a lead volunteer for PAB – Palestinian Arabic Bridge – since early 2024.
PAB is a mutual aid, language learning project that supports Palestinians to teach Arabic online globally.
After working with these teachers for almost 2 years I have grown to care for them very deeply. Now I am watching the violence and expulsion in the West Bank escalate and witnessing them fearing for themselves and their families. I have been witnessing as they try to flee to safety but cannot afford the cost of doing so. Please help us bring our teachers and their families to safety before it’s too late. Right now, we are working with Tony to help him bring his family of 6 to Europe.
Tony has done so much to create bridges of mutual aid and understanding. Now we have a chance to support him. Along with this Chuffed Campaign, I am running series of workshops online and in Toronto, Canada.
If you aren’t able to give money, please spread the word about this campaign and share these embodied and relational healing workshops with anyone who may be interested!
More info about the workshops can be found here.
ABOUT TONY:
Tony lives in the small village of Alfandqamaya with his wife and their four children. They are in “Area C”, near the city of Jenin in the West Bank. They are surrounded by constant attacks, both by extremist settlers and the IDF. The constantly moving “checkpoints” along with the destruction of roads and infrastructure have made it impossible to access basic needs, let alone maintain a stable income, even with the help of projects like PAB.
Tony’s kids (ages 6, 7, 10 and 11) have been stuck at home, witnessing ongoing violence and constantly fearing for their own safety and lives. They are watching as two nearby settlements (Homesh and Sanur) are being taken over by the IDF.
In Tony’s words, “I just want a peaceful life for my family”.
He has found a way to get his family to safety in Europe but he cannot afford the cost of getting there. Please help me show Tony that he is not alone and the world cares about what is happening to him and his family.
Tony has been foundational to the creation of PAB. He has also been running a campaign with a small group of people to support his community, who have largely lost their sources of income and cannot access basic resources. Now it’s time for community to show up for Tony so he can bring his family to safety.
WE FREAKING DID IT!!! We made it to the first goal post!!
Deep deep gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this campaign! We have now raised enough that Tony can begin the first stage in the process to get his family to safety.
We are now expanding the “Workshops for Palestine” fundraising series to raise funds for another PAB teacher living in the WB, Issa.
We will continue raising funds for Tony to help get him through the whole process and also to help support his family survive the horrible conditions they are in in the meantime.
We hope to continue expanding this project to help more Pal families in the WB
