Hello, my name is Calvin, and I’m an American helping to raise funds for one of the many families currently trapped in Gaza. Through online outreach, I was connected with Mohammed Murtaja who is supporting a wife and three children.
Aid into the strip is constricted to a trickle and the economy has been brought to a standstill, so individual donations from abroad – like yours – remain a vital lifeline for families like Mohammed’s to afford basic necessities and prepare for a future without war.
Here is Mohammed’s story, in his own words.
Hi, I am Mohamed Murtaja from Gaza City,
I am married and I have three children, Mira and Maher and baby Yaman. In the 7th of October War, the occupation completely destroyed my house, and we miraculously came out of death and became homeless, we lost everything we had. Which forced us to make a painful and difficult decision to leave our place in the northern Gaza Strip to the south of the Gaza Strip, specifically Rafah city, and we still see death every moment. In addition to the lack of basic elements of life in the south of the Gaza Strip, I lost my house, work and became unable to help my family, who lost security and safety, which made me determined to build a new life for my family after the spectre of continuous war.
Today, I communicate with you, not as a survivor, but as an ambitious person who dreams of a brighter future. My ambition is for me and my family to move to a safe place, I ask for your support through the fundraising campaign with the aim of reaching $50,000. The goal of the campaign will allow to ensure well-being and stability for my family. The money will be allocated mainly to ensure the safe movement of my family outside Gaza, including travel expenses, visa fees, transportation costs and other associated investments, in addition to new living expenses in our new destination. The goal of the campaign will provide us with the necessary financial stability to build a new life, and part of the money will be allocated to ensure that my children receive quality education including school fees, which provides them with academic prosperity.
