The Initiative The NGO Mishwar provides support for four Syrian refugee communities in Northern Lebanon. Providing community-driven initiatives for youth and locals, events to increase awareness, and funds for medical emergencies. Currently, our fund is depleted during a time of unprecedented medical crisis. We need your help to continue our work. The team on the ground includes Syrians, Lebanese and Palestinians. Additionally, support is provided from our team Europe comprising Germans, Syrians and Scots.
We’re also producing Burning Hearts, a documentary portraying life in two Syrian refugee camps. Filmed since 2019, it includes 14+ hours of footage and interviews with 9 individuals and families. The film features an original soundtrack by Syrian and Palestinian artists in Akkar, Lebanon. Only the post-production (audio and editing) of the film remains.
Our Goals of this fundraiser – Finalise Burning Hearts documentary film – Fill Mishwar’s aid fund (medical emergencies, education programmes, creative activities for kids) – Raise awareness and support through film screenings
Themes of the Documentary film – Daily life in informal tent settlements – Deportation and discrimination – Generational stories of war, survival, and resilience
Why Support Us? This project gives Syrian diaspora a voice. It is a collaborative effort between communities in Lebanon and Germany, led by Syrian and Palestinian filmmakers and activists. The project is managed by a team of six people, including Tabea, who also works for Mishwar and is organising this fundraiser.
Where Your Donation Goes €6,500 for post-production by filmmakers from the region €3,000+ for Mishwar’s medical emergency fund and continuation of community-driven initiatives
