An update from Jehad on June 21,2025–“I received $1,800, there are 45% commissions, I have $880 left. I brought medicine to my sister for $300. I have $580 left, I brought flour and food for two days, Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donated to my family.”

My name is Kate Gordon and I created this fundraiser for my dear brother Jehad, who is 21 years old and is the oldest of six children, he and his family are trapped in Khan Younis and need support urgently for shelter and food in order to survive this genocide. As the descendant of Polish Jewish Holocaust survivors, I feel like I’m watching Auschwitz in 2024 except the victims are now Palestinians and the concentration camp is the entire Gaza Strip. Never again is NOW.

Dear friend,

I am Jehad Ahmed Abu Shabana. I’m 20 years old and I am a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip. My family and I have been displaced many times. We are now outside of Rafah. Unfortunately, there are no safe places left in Gaza.

We are a family of 8:

Ahmed Abu Shabana (my father, 42)

Heba Abu Shabana (my mother, 40)

Muntaner Abu Shabana, (my brother, 15)

Uday Abu Shabana (my brother, 12)

Wissam Abu Shabana (my brother, 9)

Farah Abu Shabana (my sister, 16), has cancer

Dalal Abu Shabana (my sister, 19)

Everyone in my family has a dream and an ambition. Dalal, for example, is a first-year nursing student who did not complete her education due to the war. Farah, my sister with cancer, dreams of studying pharmacology. I want to attend university.

But the situation in Gaza has become worse than we could have ever imagined. The bombing is very frequent. We hear constant explosions, screaming, and sirens. We see death everyday. We don’t have clean water.

My sister Farah’s health is worsening and my youngest brothers, Uday and Wissam, cry because of extreme hunger and cold.

Just for one moment, imagine my family and I living through this for almost one year. We humbly ask for your support so that we can escape this genocide. Our goal is to raise the money required to travel across the border to Egypt, which is $5,000 per person.

Any support, no matter how big or small, means everything to us. If you are able to share this with others or donate, we are so grateful for your support.

We thank you and send our love,

Jihad and my family from Gaza
