A Family’s Story of Hunger, Hardship—and Hope

In Gaza today, survival is a daily struggle. For Ibrahim Al Habil, a dedicated engineering student, and his family, the suffering is constant—and deeply personal.

Their home, like so many others, was reduced to rubble. After more than a year and a half spent without shelter—not even a tent to block the sun or rain—they have returned to what’s left of their apartment. Its walls are charred. The windows, shattered. There is no furniture, no electricity, and very little security. But it is the only shelter left to them in a devastated city where thousands remain homeless.

“We walked for hours to reach our home. When we arrived, we found only ashes and broken walls. But it was still ours. We slept on the floor, grateful just to be together.”

— Ibrahim’s family

More than anything, this family is hungry. There is almost no food left in Gaza, and what little can be found costs far more than they could ever afford.

“It is the children who suffer most. We have gone days with nothing but tea or bread—when we are lucky. Sometimes, we must choose between eating and saving what little we have for rent. We are doing our best to survive, but we are desperate.”

— Ibrahim’s mother

Why Your Help Is Urgent

Ibrahim, his parents, siblings, and young nieces and nephews are enduring unimaginable hardship. Your support can bring food, safety, and a small measure of normalcy to people who have lost nearly everything. Here’s how:

Food Relief: Every dollar helps keep hunger at bay

Right now, hunger is the most urgent threat this family faces. Prices in Gaza have skyrocketed:

A 25kg (55lb) bag of flour can cost up to $500

$19 for 1kg of sugar

$8 for 1kg of tomatoes

With no steady income and no aid, they have eaten rice and tea for weeks. Sometimes, they go without entirely. Your donation ensures this family—especially the children—have something to eat.

This Is More Than a Donation. It’s a Lifeline.

Your help is more than just charity. It’s food for an empty stomach. It’s a safe place to sleep. It’s dignity for a family fighting to hold on to hope.

Please consider:

Donating — Whatever you can give makes a real difference

Sharing — If you can’t give, help by sharing this plea with others. Every share spreads awareness and brings us closer to relief.

To everyone who has already given: thank you. Your compassion brings warmth in a world turned cold.

Together, we can keep this family fed, sheltered, and filled with hope in a place where all three are hard to find.

Stand with Ibrahim’s family. Give food. Give dignity. Give a future.

With deep gratitude,

Kathleen Keene
