Stand with Saif: A Future at 17, Shattered by Genocide
Netherlands
From the Rubble of War, Help Saif Rebuild His Future
Hello and thank you for taking a moment to read this. My name is Claudia — I’m a nurse from the Netherlands, and every free moment I have, I dedicate to supporting people in Gaza.
One of those people is Saif Muhammed Bannar, an incredibly kind and resilient 18-year-old from Gaza whose life and dreams have been shattered by war. Through trusted friends in Gaza, I got to know Saif, and I was deeply moved by his courage, humility, and determination — even while surviving the unimaginable.
This is his story. Please read, share, and help if you can.
“My name is Saif. I’m 17 years old, and I used to dream of becoming a computer engineer. I was weeks away from graduating university when the war tore everything apart.
One day changed everything. Our home in Shujaiya was destroyed in a brutal bombing — gone in seconds. My family and I — 9 of us — fled with nothing. We were displaced again and again: from school shelters in Tel al-Hawa to overcrowded classrooms in Nuseirat, and finally to a tent in Deir al-Balah.
For many months, this tent — just 4×3 meters — has been our entire world. We sleep packed tightly together on the floor. There’s no privacy, no electricity, no security. In winter, we froze. In summer, we burned. We wait in long lines to use a bathroom we share with strangers. We cook over fires in unbearable heat, trying to stretch what little food we can find.
But I refuse to give up. Even surrounded by destruction, I still dream. Eight months after the war began, I was offered a chance to resume my studies. But I can only do it if I have the tools: a solar panel for electricity, a laptop, internet, and basic materials.
This is where I need your help.
What your donation will support: A solar panel to power devices so I can study and work remotely Educational tools and materials Basic survival needs for my family — food, hygiene, dignity Every euro, every dollar — no matter how small — brings me closer to safety, to learning, to hope.
Please be part of my journey. With your support, I can finish my education, help my family survive, and one day give back to the world — just as you are giving to me.
Thank you for reading. Please donate. Please share. With your help, I can turn loss into life again.
With hope and gratitude, Saif (and Claudia from the Netherlands)
