Campaign for Shahed
United States
Hello, my name is Skylar Baker and I am raising money for a sweet girl in Gaza named Shahed. Shahed has a rare medical condition and needs urgent medical treatment, but cannot afford it due to the ongoing genocide. I encourage you all to donate to help Shahed and her family! More from Shahed and her family:
My name is Shahed, and I am from Gaza. We are a family of 12 members, and we have been suffering since the beginning of the war. At the start of the war, our neighborhood was targeted, and our house was damaged. Our house filled with burning stones, shrapnel, and toxic smoke from the shelling. I sustained severe burns that led to a skin disease and severe skin inflammation. My skin started to peel off, and I couldn’t wear clothes. I couldn’t go to the hospital because there were no medical supplies available. We were forced to go to Salah al-Din School as a shelter.
During that time, my condition worsened, and I couldn’t sleep, walk, or eat. I tried to get treatment, but no medical services were available. My condition continued to worsen. After a while, the school was surrounded by Israeli forces, and it was the worst day of our lives. They prevented anyone from entering or leaving the school. After several days of being trapped, the school was stormed by the occupation forces, and they shot at everyone inside. During that time, my mother was martyred by Israeli gunfire, and my little brother was injured while in her arms. At that moment, we couldn’t believe what we were witnessing. My mother died immediately after being shot, and my father and brother rushed him to the Shifa Hospital for treatment.
The school was evacuated, and we were left crying for the loss of our mother. Afterward, we were forced to leave the school, and the occupation forces fired at us as we were leaving. They told us to go to the displacement areas. During that time, my condition worsened, and I was transferred to Shifa Hospital. When I arrived at the hospital, there were no empty beds or medical care available. Due to my poor condition, a nurse provided me with a bed, but my situation continued to deteriorate. I couldn’t walk and started using a wheelchair. I couldn’t eat any food, and my skin continued to peel off, losing all of my hair. I lived on IV fluids for two months, needing a large amount of medication and a special diet, which was very expensive. Everything is very costly, and we have no income.
I also have another sick sister, her name is Salsabil. She suffers from a kidney disease that causes protein leakage, swelling in the face, abdomen, back, and feet, and foot inflammation. Her feet become inflamed because of the disease and the fluids in her body, making it impossible for her to walk. She also has a thyroid condition that causes pain in her hands and heart. She needs a lot of medications and a special diet. Due to the war, malnutrition, and lack of medical care, her condition is worsening, and the cost of food and medication is very high.
We have no income, and the prices in the pharmacies are very high if the medications are even available. The occupation forces have also stormed the hospital, so my family and I were forced to go to the school for shelter. We are suffering from very difficult circumstances. Everything is expensive, and we are a large family of 12 people. My burn injuries caused by the war need ongoing skin care. My brother’s injury requires medical attention, and my sister Salsabil’s condition requires treatment and special food. The situation has worsened significantly, and we are enduring the harshest forms of suffering.
We sincerely request urgent help from any kind-hearted person. Thank you so much for your support.
