Food & basic necessities for survival for Sereen’s family in Gaza
United Kingdom
My name is Sereen, and I’m married to Hatem. We have two young children: Ahmed, who is 3 years old, and Sandy, who is almost 6. We always lack basics like food for my children, warm clothes for the harsh winters in Gaza. Cleaning supplies- and the infection that occurs on Ahmed and Sandy’s skin due to the bad living conditions, contamination and lack of cleaning materials.
We have been displaced more than eight times, and our home was bombed while we were inside. By God’s mercy, we managed to escape. I am still in shock by that day.
Tragically, I lost my brother’s wife and their four children in this war. This has affected our family’s mental state heavily and left us heartbroken from grief. Leaving us in need of psychological therapy in the future. Ahmed and Sandy miss their cousins, keep asking about where their cousins are- and why they cant see them anymore.
Now, we live in a tent on the beach in Deir al-Balah, in conditions unfit for survival. We lack even the basics like food, clean water, and medicine. My children Ahmed and Sandy and I have contracted viral hepatitis and intestinal flu, and they suffer from a bacterial skin infection that spreads quickly and causes painful burns.
This account was created to seek help for our family for basics and urgent needs for food, clean water, and medicine, cleaning materials and clothes. All necessary for survival in Gaza.
Any support, no matter how small, could save lives and bring relief to our family during this unimaginable hardship we are enduring here in Gaza. I worry about my children Ahmed and Sandy and their future. I worry about our family, Hatem’s family. I pray for the family we have lost.
Please help our remaining family survive and give us hope, even if a little for the future. I wish to see my kids smiling again, like I see in my old photos.
I want to share with you my joy at our return to our destroyed home in northern Gaza. The day we have been waiting for for a year and four months has come. My husband, my two young children, Ahmed and Sandy, and I packed our bags and walked back to northern Gaza. It was a very difficult and tiring journey, but it was mixed with some joy and longing for home. Our journey lasted seven continuous hours, during which we walked 16 kilometers on foot without any means of transportation. We quickly forgot the pain when we smelled the air of Gaza. Unfortunately, Gaza is no longer the same. Everything is completely destroyed. The scenes of destruction and the smell of death are everywhere. The world believes that the war is over and that everything has returned to the way it was. However, the opposite is true. The war is over, but our suffering has not ended. We returned to our destroyed home in northern Gaza, which is unfit for habitation. We tried to adapt to the circumstances, but everything is going against our wishes. Northern Gaza lacks the most basic necessities of life. No salt or fresh water, no electricity, no cooking gas, no internet, and no communications network. The infrastructure is completely destroyed. We stay in touch with the outside world and to connect to the internet we have to walk a long distance to search for an internet network… You were our best supporter throughout the war, please continue your support and giving.. because we need you more than ever.. we are starting a new life that lacks the minimum necessities of life, but with your standing by our side we will be able to continue and start over
Dear friends,
After 15 months of displacement and hardship, we are eagerly awaiting Sunday, January 26, when we will finally be able to return to our homes, even if they are destroyed. This day will not be just a day of return – it will be a day of celebration for all of us.
But joy is not complete when we cannot afford the transportation costs. We cannot face the grief and sorrow.
That is why I am asking you to help us cover the transportation costs and support our journey back home. I need your help to achieve this important goal and make this day a real celebration for my family.
I am calling on 10 to 20 dear people to pledge to donate $1,000 or more – or even $500 – so that we can ensure a dignified return to our destroyed home. Together, you can make a difference and bring joy to our hearts.
Let your donations be a message of hope and comfort for us who have lost so much.

I am Sereen, the mother of Ahmed and Sandy. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for the support you have given and continue to give to my family. On December 17th, it will be Sandy’s sixth birthday. It was always a special day before the genocide.
I used to prepare all her favorite foods and decorate our home with balloons. Her father, Hatem, would buy her a birthday cake with her favorite cartoon character, and her little brother, Ahmed, would clap and sing while Sandy smiled and blew out her candles.
But this year is different. The bombing destroyed our home in Gaza. Now, we live in a tent on the beach in Deir al-Balah. There is no kitchen for me to cook in, no food to prepare, no decorations, and no cake because of the famine we are enduring. Sandy cannot celebrate the way any six-year-old child should.
She is just a child, yet she already knows sadness and fear. The war in Gaza has taken away her home, her comfort, her joy, and her toys. Today, instead of celebrating, Sandy sits in the cold under bombardment, hoping for a better tomorrow.
We cannot restore Sandy’s home or her toys, but we can help her. Our family is trying to raise donations to secure food, medicine, and the necessities we need to survive. This birthday, let’s come together to show Sandy that she is loved and not forgotten.
Please donate to Sandy’s campaign today. Every contribution brings our family closer to survival and Sandy closer to the joy every child deserves.
