Hello! My name is Pike, and I live in California. I started this fundraiser to support my friend H and her family as they work to start over after losing everything in Gaza. I have removed their names and photos to safeguard their privacy.

These are H’s words:

I am a mother of five from Gaza and a holder of a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering.

Until October of 2023, my husband and I ran a succesful furniture and design business and showroom in Gaza City, and lived a comfortable, happy life with our five beautiful children.

Unfortunately, our home and business in Gaza were bombed. My family and I were forced to flee more than eight times, moving from one shelter to another under extremely difficult living and health conditions. After nearly seven months of displacement and constant fear, we were fortunate to find a way out to Egypt, hoping to leave the suffering behind.

However, life here has presented new and unexpected challenges.

We are not allowed to legally work in Egypt without proper residency, which is only granted to investors. All of our savings has now run out. We lost everything we owned in Gaza—our home, our belongings, and my husband’s furniture factory and showroom, which were completely destroyed.

We have five children—two boys and three girls. Our eldest daughter has Type 1 diabetes and requires monthly medical care. Our eldest son is ready to begin his first year at university and earned a full scholarship to a highly respected university in the United States, where he just started school in August of 2025. While all of our children are brilliant and academically gifted, we are struggling to provide for even their most basic needs.

I have been trying to generate income by teaching Arabic online, but the number of students is limited and inconsistent, and the income barely covers anything. However, through my lessons I have met many wonderful people in the U.S. and Canada, which gives me hope for humanity.

This campaign was encouraged by kind friends who believe in us, and we’re putting all our hopes into it. We have decided to seek monthly support for us to meet our financial needs for rent, health care and my kids’ school needs (clothes, books etc) which comes to about $2000 USD monthly. Additionally, my husband, who is a great cook, is working on starting a small restaurant with another friend from Gaza. If we have money left over at the end of the month, it will go towards building up the restaurant.

Any support—big or small—will make a difference. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and compassion. Please help us rebuild our lives.

With hope and gratitude, H & Family

Hello everyone,

Thank you again for all the love and support you have shown to our friend and her family through these horrifying times.

In addition to the stresses of daily life in Cairo, our friend also has family members who are still in Gaza City, which is currently being pummelled by the Israeli military. This morning, she got news from a relative that the building they have been staying in was shelled, making their need to flee even more urgent than it already was.

As we all know, the cost of everything in Gaza has been inflated since the war began. She told me yesterday that her family there is in urgent need of shelter ($1000 for a room), transportation ($500), and food ($1000).

If you are able, please share what you can to help her family members make their way out of Gaza City. Please share this with everyone you know; time is of the essence.

Thank you as ever for your love, solidarity, and generosity.

Very sincerely, Pike

Hi everyone! P here. I just wanted to thank you all again for all your ongoing support of our beloved friend and her family. For those of you who have been supporting for awhile, you may have noticed that I’ve recently removed the photos and names from this campaign. I want to be transparent that this is a decision we made in order to ensure more safety and privacy for my friend and her family. I hope you will understand.

However, pictures or no, their need for funds is now more urgent than ever, as we hope to be able to get a few more family members out of Gaza.

Please consider finding an amount you can give monthly and click the button to ensure your donation is sent automatically. If enough people do this, we can ensure that this wonderful woman and her family have a strong baseline of support they count on to continue rebuilding their lives.

Please reach out to me directly if you have any questions or concerns and I will be glad to speak with you. Thank you all for your ongoing love, solidarity, and support! xoxo, Pike

Hello friends!

As we welcome summer we want to send warm congratulations to all of H’s children for finishing another school year, despite all their losses and struggles.

Prior to this campaign, a group of friends from the San Francisco Bay Area called “BayToGaza Mutual Aid” got together and helped send some much needed medical supplies for H’s oldest daughter to help manage her diabetes since it was very hard to find the supplies in Cairo. Your continued donations are now supporting the continuation of this support effort. From H:

“A beautiful piece of news amidst all the chaos and sorrow overwhelming the world… S’s blood test showed a drop in her sugar storage level from 12 to 7, which means her body’s insulin resistance has decreased, and the likelihood of diabetes-related complications has also gone down. This, after God’s grace, is thanks to the BayToGaza team and your generous support. We were able to provide blood control sensors and healthy food, which helped greatly in managing this challenging condition. Words of thanks cannot express how truly grateful we are to each and every one of you.”

Please stay tuned for more good news, and continue to give what you can this month, and encourage your friends and loved ones to connect with us and H’s family. There is strength in solidarity, and we are all united in supporting this beautiful Palestinian family who has survived the horrors of genocide. Despite all this, they are determined to thrive and succeed!
