Help Ayad’s family rebuild our lives
United States
We are a family from Gaza, consisting of seven members: four daughters, one son, and my mother and father. We lived in comfortable conditions, as we owned two houses. However, the brutal war invaded our lives, and we were forced to evacuate six times, which was extremely difficult. We carried with us my grandmother, an elderly woman who could not walk, which added to our suffering.
We faced significant difficulties in obtaining water and food, and we were unable to secure a decent life. When we evacuated to Rafah, we had to sleep on the streets during cold nights, as we had no place to shelter. Then we moved to live in a tent that offered no protection from the summer heat or the winter cold.
I had registered to travel to Egypt for eye surgery, but the war prevented me from doing so. The pain in my eyes increased significantly, especially due to the lack of fuel and the need to sit around the fire. The conditions were extremely challenging, as we suffered from smoke and heat, which adversely affected my health. Every time I tried to concentrate, the pain intensified, making things even more difficult in the harsh circumstances we were living in. I was also prevented from reaching my fiancé who lives in Germany. Unfortunately, I lost my wedding equipment and everything I owned in the house that was bombed.
