Charity Giving Kitchen, Al-Shejaiya, Gaza
United Kingdom
My friends Mohammed and Fares, two young men from Al-Shejaiya, North-East Gaza, are fundraising to support their community. 130 Al-Shejaiya residents, half of which are children, are currently homeless with no access to food, water or medicine.
Mohammed and Fares are organising to support their community during their displacement. They aim to raise funds to buy food, water, cooking gas, clothes, and eventually to fund entertainment and education programmes for the children. Your donation will help meet these basic needs, and will support this shattered community in their efforts to rebuild.
Some words from Mohammed: “Al-Shejaiya is suffering. The air is thick with smoke, the cries of the wounded mingling with the distant hum of drones overhead. A young girl, no older than six, clutches a tattered doll, her face streaked with tears and ash. The streets, lined with shattered glass and twisted metal, bear witness to the relentless destruction.
In the background, a makeshift hospital overflows with the injured – children with vacant stares, mothers pressing trembling hands to bloodstained bandages, doctors working tirelessly with dwindling supplies. Each face tells a story of loss, of resilience, of a world turned upside down.
And yet, amidst the devastation, there are glimpses of defiant hope; a boy planting a small green sapling in the ruins, a mother whispering lullabies to soothe her frightened baby, neighbours sharing the last of their bread. The suffering is profound, but so is the unyielding spirit of those who refuse to be erased.”
