Help the Barakat Family Survive and Evacuate Gaza
United States
Hello everyone I am Vienna and I connected with The Barakat’s in early 2024, sharing what life is like in our parts of the world. It became evident that I could help with their living situation. Their long term goal was to flee Gaza but now they are determined to rebuild and stay in their ancestral homeland. But they need help. The cost of one single egg right now is 4 shekels (or $1.50), and one meal including whatever veggies and fruits are available could cost a family approximately $70.
Bag of flour: 600 shk ($200) Sugar/kilo: 50 shk ($14) Onion/kilo: 60 shk ($16) Tomatoes/kilo: 40 shk ($11) Potatoes/kilo: 40 shk ($11) Apples/kilo: 45 shk ($12) Fish/kilo: 200 shk ($55)

They have been displaced multiple times, most recently from Rafah which has been completely devastated. The Barakat’s were in Khan Yunis when a temporary ceasefire was called, allowing people to return to the north. Muhammad and his brother Moman have returned to Gaza and have shared about it on their social media. The devastation is unreal but they are determined to stay and rebuild a house for their family.
Below is more of their story written by Muhammad Barakat. Thank you so much for sharing it and making them have hope for a bright future.
Message from Muhammad… I never wanted to ask for help to flee my homeland, the place I had always dreamed of settling (Gaza). However, here I am. The ravages of war are unbearable. Our homes were covered with dust and we lost all the memories and stories we had collected in the years of our lives in these long, harsh days. We lived through all types of genocide, bombing, slaughter, and starvation. I am Muhammad. I ask for your help in reaching our goal of $20,000, I will buy housing for my family, and provide water and electricity, but it is difficult.
My wife’s name is May B M Sayam. My name is Muhammad O D Barakat. We have added my family to our link as life has become even worse. My parents, Omer and Sham Barakat My brothers, Mohanad and Moamen Barakat My sister, Hala Barakat We lived in a house happily before the war. Before that, we were in Turkey because my wife was studying there as a nurse. When her studies ended, we decided to return to our homeland and family. I worked as a programmer and used to have a great job. May was working as a nurse. Our beautiful family house was destroyed and we fled to the Rafah area where we have been living in one room with 3 families. Our hope is to live in peace, away from fear, destruction and hunger. Here, there is no good food and no clean drinking water. We have lived a difficult life for more than 450 days. Now we have been forced out of Rafah to move once again to an area that has previously been totally bombed out. Please help us by donating and spreading our story. Every dollar gets us closer to a safer life. Spreading what is happening is very important. The more you tell our story, the more likely it is that we will get out of this war. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation.
