Updated info about this family (June 2025):

The family is grieving the loss of their three year old daughter, while also trying to get food as conditions worsen every day.

On June 18 Feras’s cousin Nasaat was shot dead, when he went to a truck food aid distribution site, leaving his five children orphaned. Their uncle Hasaan is now responsible for this family, and Feras has taken this family into the apartment they are renting. Now the household is 3 adults, 4 adolescents, and 3 younger children.

Previous description (November 2024):

Lulu, Misk, Abood, and their parents Feras and Doaa have been stuck in Gaza for over 400 days suffering bombing, hunger, poverty and displacement. They were forced out of Northern Gaza at the beginning of the war and have been displaced many times since then.

There is no safe place for them to take shelter, forcing them to live in tents, facing the extreme weather conditions like frigid cold to scorching heat. When the sun goes down they remain in complete darkness due to power outages throughout the entire Gaza Strip. There is limited access to food and clean water. Help this family by donating to ease the burden they face.

The baby Misk is 4 months old. She was born in the war and was seperated from her mother for 10 days due to the health issues they both suffered from a lack of available healthcare. Misk also cannot receive the amount milk she needs to satisfy her hunger.

Lulu (only 3 years of age) was living the life of a normal child before the war; playing, running around, eating sweets. Now her family cannot even find clean water to give her to drink nor treatment for the skin diseases she suffers from due to sun exposure and insect attacks.

Abood is a 4 year old boy who was about to start school but instead found himself living inside of a tent and sleeping on the ground without a blanket. He suffers from dermatological diseases that makes him unable to tolerate anything touching his skin and cannot be provided with treatment.

Donations will go towards food, warm clothing for the children, and making their tent better to live in.

It’s hard to even know what to say right now. Since March, food has been available in Gaza through merchants who gouge their customers, charging astronomical prices for food, or through distribution sites where Israeli troops murder people trying to get food.

In June, Feras’s cousin Nashaat was murdered at a food distribution site, leaving his five children orphans as their mother was martyred at the beginning of the war. Now Feras is supporting his two surviving children, his wife Doaa who lost her leg in the bombing which killed their daughter Lulu, and Nashaat’s five children.

This week for the first time, Feras is unable to find any food to buy. There is nothing available even from merchants. The people of Gaza are being starved to death.

I wish I had something to say after that – a “here’s how you can help” – but I’m truly not sure how to help right now. There’s no amount of money we can raise that can magically make food appear. Our political leaders don’t seem to care – Congress voted on July 18th to send hundreds of millions of dollars to Israel’s military and basically every single Democrat (except 5) voted for it.

If you’re in the SF Bay Area there’s an emergency action on Tuesday at 5:30 PM in SF.

If you’re somewhere else, I encourage you to find ways to take action in your community.

With a heavy heart,

Nora

We are heartbroken and devastated to share that in the past day, Lulu, age 3, was killed from a bombing. Her mother is currently in critical condition in a hospital. Please light a candle for this family, send prayers and continue to financially support this family if you can.

a friend in our mutual aid community shares these words:

…no words come close to describing this level of injustice…I pray every day that we may be able to alchemize our collective grief, fury and frustration into something actionable in whatever form that may take. May we never forget this collective stain on all of our humanity, may we always remember, amen.
