My name is Matteo, and I am collecting donations for Mohammed’s family in Nuseirat, Gaza. These donations will be used to purchase food, winter clothing, and water. I have been in daily contact with Hani and his three children, Ahmed, Aysal, and Mohammed, over the past few months, and they have provided me with a glimpse into the reality of life in Gaza. They want to leave Gaza as soon as possible with Hani’s parents. The latest estimate for the cost of crossing the border is $5,000 per person, or $35,000 for all seven family members. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to cover living expenses and other travel expenses not related to crossing the Rafah crossing. Below is a statement from Hani:
My name is Hani, married with three children, and I am making an urgent appeal for help in these difficult times. We continue to live in Gaza and are facing the dire consequences of the ongoing war.
In addition to the hardships we face, our home was recently severely damaged by indiscriminate shelling, leaving us without safe and stable shelter. The cumulative effects of these conditions have placed tremendous strain on our family’s well-being. Amidst this chaos, the escalating violence and instability have made it even more difficult for us to obtain the medical care we need for my father, mother, and children. The cost of obtaining border crossing permits to escape this hellish situation is $5,000 per person. With seven people, the cost rises to $35,000 just for the crossing, plus $10,000 in additional expenses.
We are working hard to raise this amount to cover the costs of these permits and ensure safe passage for my family. Your generous contribution will not only help us obtain the necessary permits but will also allow my children the opportunity to continue their education in a safer environment away from conflict. It will also provide them with food, water, and clothing during these days.
