My name is Caitlin and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Kavuma Abdallah, who reached out to me on social media. He is a gay Ugandan refugee who had to leave his home country due to its extreme anti-LBGTQ+ laws. He went to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya and then South Sudan, where he still faces adversity for his sexuality. People will not hire him for work because he is gay.

Kavuma needs funds in order to get access to basic necessities, like food, medical supplies, and shelter. Please donate as much as possible to help him. All funds will be sent to him through WorldRemit.

I wanted to share an update about Kavuma Abdallah, the Ugandan refugee I’m raising funds for. Kavuma is gay, and because of Uganda’s extreme anti-LGBTQ+ laws, he was forced to flee his home country. He sought safety in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, but sadly, the discrimination and threats continued there as well.

Eventually, it became too dangerous for him to stay in Kenya, and he had to relocate once again to another country. Unfortunately, the challenges have followed him — he still faces constant adversity because of his sexuality, and it’s nearly impossible for him to find work. He’s struggling to access food, medical care, and a safe place to live.

On top of all this, USAID funding has recently been cut, which means services provided by UNHCR are now extremely limited. Refugees like Kavuma are left to fend for themselves, with very little support.

Your donations have helped him get through some extremely tough moments — providing food and emergency medical help. But the situation remains urgent, and your continued support is deeply needed.
