Feed Areej and her family in Gaza
United States
I’m fundraising for my friend Areej in the IDP camp in Nuseirat, Gaza. She’s 14 years old and needs money for food and to fix her family’s tent, which is taking in a lot of water right now. They haven’t eaten for nine days.
Areej’s family, who will use this money to survive, includes her mother Ghadeer (37), her brother Farid (18), and her sisters Shatha (16), Nagham (8), Sabah (4, pictured outside the family’s tent before it flooded). Their father Muhammad (may his memory be a blessing) was martyred earlier during the war from shrapnel in his side.
Areej and I talk regularly; she checks in on me and I on her. You already know how dire the situation is. As long as the assaults on Palestine continue, every day is worse than before as the infrastructure is destroyed and the peoples needs grow greater and greater.
The break down of costs is simple: we’re trying to raise $2000 for the family. Of course any extra funds will also go directly to the family, or (inshallah) should they not need it, another family in Palestine. I will personally cover all of the Stripe fees, so every dollar you give to this campaign will go directly to Gaza.
Any help you can provide is graciously appreciated, and the funds will reach them in Gaza in a few days. For those of us not in Palestine, it’s up to be us to be not only generous but courageous with our generosity. Please don’t put yourself in a bad financial situation by donating, but do consider stretching your comfort level in order to help this family survive the genocide.
This last week has been devastating, like every week before for over a year. I talk to Areej almost every day and I’m continuously floored by the enormity of what she’s been forced to take on as a 14 year old in caring for her mother and siblings in the IDP camp.
The need remains urgent. They have no food and no water. They need to buy materials to winter-proof their tent, and food, medication, and other essentials are still extremely expensive.
Your donations are their lifeline. Anything you can give helps them survive another day and reminds them they’re not alone.
In solidarity,
Moishe
