Hi I’m Carla and I have been collecting donations for Maisa Walid and her family for many months now. Gofundme have cruely frozen their account, and they have been without any income for weeks because of this limbo. I am making this Chuffed so they can begin to recollect what they have lost, because they have already lost so much.

Maisa is a young mother to three children; Ziad, Amal, and Tim. She lives with her husband Waleed and mother Nelly in Khan Yunis. Her father Hashem is a diabetic stuck in the north of Gaza near Al Shifa and has witnessed unimaginable horrors. Her younger sister Farah speaks with me most days, has been separated from them ever since she fled through the Rafah Crossing, she dreams of being reunited with her family and is miserable without them. Sometimes she tells me she wishes she could have stayed to be with them, despite all the hardships they face.

For months we have sat with Maisa on the phone and watched as IOF soldiers threaten the tented areas with tanks, worrying about new skin infections popping up, or Tim’s swollen eye that was not getting better. Maisa often does not sleep as he is unwell so often, I think of her panicking as his breathing became laborous after a recent bad infection. She would take him to the hospital every day hoping whatever little medication was left would be enough to help him. It is always the little ones that suffer the most.

Your donations provide peace of mind and stability during an extremely volatile time, whatever you can manage will help ease the stress of this horrible occupation and geno cide. Please give what you can and give regularly, think of Maisa every pay day. Mutual aid needs consistency and regularity, and this family needs you!

These funds will be used to secure winter clothes as the year comes to a close, buy what limited supplies are available, including hyper inflated food and medicine.

I believe one day this money will be used to help this family not just survive, but thrive. All of the children are being deprived of their childhoods.

Amal and Ziad miss going to school, their education has been halted indefinitely. Tim is too young to understand why they cannot go back to their home and is suffering in the intense weather conditions in their tent, and being exposed to insects, the elements, and disease.

This campaign is in AUD please consider what you’re converting relative to USD for more impactful donations.

Maisa and her family have limited internet access so when I do get updated it’s via their family. The family has grown weary of the destruction and incessant bombing since the ceasefire ended. I’m not sure how you’re supposed to inform children that the violence was back and here to stay. Maisa says the bombing sounds different, the missiles are a new type and the sounds that shake the earth sound as if everyone and everything is being exterminated. The zionists have not allowed for any fresh food to enter Gaza, everyone is resorting to canned goods if they are lucky.

The situation is more catastrophic than we can detail, but today the bombing was relentless and there were many martyrs. Maisa cries at the uncertainty of their safety, the situation continues to worsen. Thank you to everyone who has supported and who will support these people, they have asked for your prayers in this very difficult time.

At the time of writing this I haven’t heard from Maisa in a couple of days. Along with thousands of other resilient Palestinians – she is making the arduous walk to the north of Gaza. From what I understand the whole family is making the journey which should take 2-5 hours on rough terrain, but there is no infrastructure where they are going. No internet, electricity, food and water. We don’t have any updates but I wanted to update everyone who graciously contributed to this slow moving campaign.

EDIT: Between writing this and posting the family has arrived safely in the north of Gaza, they were gone for 48 hours – the roads were extremely busy she said. Her mother Nelly took a cat with her on the journey (see pictured), we hope they packed some food because everyone is uncertain about what is available for people to survive in the north.

This family is looking to the future, it is undoubtedly uncertain. The monsters in the israeli government have spoken about letting people leave via the Rafah Crossing but plan on not letting them return to Gaza. Maisa wanted to take the children on a trip to Egypt to experience something different as the ongoing trauma of genocide distrupts their lives. She wanted to see them return to school, back in uniforms and learning again just like these pictures I’ve attached.

I would love to see the 10k initial goal reached sooner rather than later, to send them another generous lump sum to ease the stress of what they’re going through. It has been incredibly eerie having a little window into what this genocide looks like, and knowing this is just one family out of an endless sea of people that need support. But everyday I am here I will advocate for Maisa and her family, I just need a bunch of people to also do the same. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped fund this campaign, especially to the same names I see over and over again – you have given so much hope when there has been very little.

<3 Carla on behalf of Maisa, Amal, Ziad, Taim, Waleed, and Nelly It took a minute but we finally made it to $3000 AUD! I have just put Paypal back up as a payment option, to make it easier for everyone to give and give regularly. Here are some photos of the winter clothes Maisa was able to buy with the money we sent them, and just in time for winter. Please continue to support this family, ever since the Gofundme was frozen their spirits have been hit hard, it was a real pillar of security for them, and it has been taken away just like everything else in their lives. I am trying to rebuild this with what we have going on here, but it's a lot less coming in due to me being in Australia, and with inflation it's now a far more expensive time for them to survive in. Urging anyone who is able to, to please set up a recurring payment while you're here. You won't have to think about it and you will be providing the security this family desperately needs. I was able to do a large transfer yesterday including profits from some items in my store, if you have a way of pooling resources or collecting for this family please don't hesitate to reach out if you have queries. Share this campaign with a link if you're unable to donate right now. Thank you everyone for continuing to push this, especially thank you to everyone who has supported them in the past and keeps coming back to help this family through the harshest times of their lives. <3 Carla - on behalf of Maisa & the Walid family Anonymous
