In the heart of Gaza, a place where resilience is a way of life, Arwa lived a peaceful life surrounded by her family. Her home, a five-story building, stood as a symbol of the hard work and dreams they had built over the years. But on October 7th, everything changed. In a devastating series of events, war reached her doorstep.
Her neighbors’ house was bombed, and the explosion left Arwa and her family injured. Tragically, many of her neighbors did not survive. Arwa’s family was displaced, spending four harrowing days away from their home, clinging to hope amidst the chaos. When they returned, they found nothing but ruins. Their beloved home, the very place where they had celebrated life’s joys and faced its challenges, was reduced to rubble. Her father’s business, their main source of livelihood, was also destroyed, leaving them with no means of support. Today, Arwa and her family live in a tent, exposed to the elements. The heat of the day and the cold of the night are constant reminders of all they’ve lost. Yet, despite the overwhelming grief of losing dozens of relatives, and the physical and emotional toll, Arwa remains hopeful. She dreams of rebuilding her home, of giving her family a safe place to heal and start anew.
