June 2022 Update – In early June Razia*’s condition worsened and she started having severe swelling all over her body. Her family was very worried that the swelling may start to affect her internal organs and threaten her life, so $900 of the funds from the fundraiser were sent to get her urgent medical attention – she is now in a local hospital. Another community art and bake sale fundraiser was held at House Conspiracy in Brisbane which has raised approximately another $1000 (still waiting for the exact amount to be calculated and sent from House Conspiracy) to make a rough total of the ongoing fundraiser of ~$1100 to be put toward a flight out of Myanmar (where violence could escalate at any time). Another community art and bake sale is planned for the coming months which will hopefullly meet the required funds to book a ticket and finally get Razia to a safer place with family. Thank you so much for your ongoing support.

May 2022 Update – the fundraiser is actually at $1000 dollars after the last community art and bake sale – we have just decided not to put it through the chuffed website because they take 3% of each donation and we want as much funds to go to the flight as possible. Money is needed to book a plane ticket for Razia* out of Myanmar to a more safe place with family. The situation in Myanmar is still very dangerous as the military junta is continuing to commit violence against villages in the countryside where Razia lives. Razia suffers from a heart condition and often loses consciousness, which means that when the military comes to their village, she may be unaware and unable to hide in time. The military are setting explosives and house fires, and if Razia’s loses consciousness, she can’t react to save herself. They are threatening these villages in attempts to weaken resistance to their hostile takeover of the democratic government. Abul*, Razia’s son had to flee Myanmar ma
