The Campaign

Support LGBT Aali (name changed for safety) seek asylum from persecution in his home country of Iran where LGBT people have miserable lives and have been jailed or executed on several occasions

Aali’s Story

Aali began to understand his sexual orientation at around the age of 15 and since then has been sexually, physically and emotionally abused, threatened to be killed for being gay and has had to lead a life of hiding out of fear of persecution. Now 22, he wishes to seek a better future for himself, to be able to express his true identity and live a life without fear. The road to seeking asylum in another country is a very long and dangerous path especially for those within the LGBT community with 97% of LGBT asylum seeker cases being rejected and deported. Listen to Aali’s story below

My involvement in Aali’s life

I originally met Aali on Instagram a while ago and our friendship grew from there. We share in video conversations and chat daily. I’ve been lucky enough to learn about his hopes and dreams, his passions and desires in life. He has been nothing but honest and truthful in all correspondance and has never asked for anything more than a shoulder to lean on and console in. So far I have been helping him seek support and advice from various Humanitarian Organizations along with the LGBT Asylum Seeker organization Rainbow Railroad who are in the process of setting up a case file for him.

How the donations will help

Donations will be going directly to Aali. The funds raised will be used on his travel out of Iran, visas, lawyers and legal advice, and basic living essentials during the asylum process and helping him to set up a new life. Any amount that you feel you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance of your generosity, Joel
