https://sadik-o.com - refugees and asylum seeekers - ¡Defend Irineo! ¡Defend Cristobal! ¡Defend Human Rights!

Short Story

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

On June 5th, two of our longtime compañeros were arrested by the Mexican government just minutes apart in Mexico City and in Sonora.

Cristóbal Sánchez and Irineo Mujica are being held on charges of human trafficking to punish them for organizing humanitarian aid and accompanying Central American migrants during the caravans. They are set to go to court in the city of Tapachula in southern Mexican border state of Chiapas, where we will continue demandning their immediate release and that the charges against them be dropped.

While all the international migrant rights work that Pueblo Sin Fronteras (PSF) does is fully volunteer-run, there are moments of crisis like this where we reach out to our solidarity network to help support us. We do not know what lies ahead for Irineo and Cristobal, but we expect that the legal and support fees will be immense. Meanwhile, we continue to support three migrant shelters in the north of Mexico.

Thank you in advance for allowing us to continue our fight to defend human rights and denounce this new wave of coordinated transnational repression that ultimately has most intimidated and terrorized the migrant and refugee families being driven from their homes, such as the 500 families arrested in masse and imprisoned in Chiapas on the very same day as Irineo and Cristobal.

Please donate to us and share through your networks. 100% of the money you donate goes towards our crucial work, and none goes to administrative fees or salaries. With your support, the voice of resistance will continue to be heard.

In solidarity, we shout to you all, “¡La lucha sigue!”
