Swansea Asylum Seekers Support (SASS) is a registered charity that has supported asylum seekers and refugees in the Swansea area since 1999. Run almost entirely by volunteers we support up to 70 people per session in our twice-weekly community drop-ins. SASS has always survived on small grants.

Asylum seekers often have to deal with/respond to emails from their solicitors and in a language other than thier own – English.

Staying up-to-date with news from your home country (and family) can be very difficult when having limited access to the Internet due to living on limited or no funds. There is a vast amount of English learning videos/materials online that people enjoy accessing, including online dictionaries that are needed to support our English classes.

Refugees experience language barriers in dealing with the benefits system, local authority bills, looking for work and searching for accomodation amongst other things. People often need basic support in using computers and the internet. To be successful in looking for work an up-to-date CV and cover letters are needed. Accessing ICT/English language learning materials is as important to refugees as it is to asylum seekers.

We plan to have a number of laptop computers and a mobile wifi unit available at each of our drop-ins. With support from our volunteers we will;

Our target is to raise £2,600. Your kind donations will allow us to aquire;
