The Palestinian Christians in Australia (PCiA) have come together to address a matter of great urgency.
I am Suzan Wahhab, the President of our organisation, and it is with a heavy heart that I share the current plight of the Palestinian families arriving in Australia from Gaza.
In response to the Australian government’s provision of visitor visas for families stuck in Gaza, our community in Australia has been tirelessly working to facilitate visa applications.
While some families have successfully arrived, many more are expected in the upcoming weeks. These families are not just arriving on new shores; they are arriving penniless, having lost everything – their homes, livelihoods, and personal belongings obliterated by the horrors of conflict.
To assist these families, the PCiA has already organised several fundraisers, but the funds raised still fall short of what is required to provide support. Regrettably, we have not received any governmental support to date.
The most pressing need is to secure funds for accommodation on their arrival. We have been inundated with emails, calls, and texts from families seeking financial assistance.
It is with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment that we organised this fundraiser, appealing to your compassion and generosity.
We acknowledge the community survivor’s guilt that comes with the inability to provide adequate help to all those in Gaza directly.
This fundraiser aims to empower us to respond to every plea for assistance that comes our way.
Your contribution will directly support Gaza families with their accommodation costs.
The PCiA assured transparency in our reporting, and our donors and will all receive detailed financial information, reflecting our genuine commitment to aiding hundreds of people in need.
