Little Fahed is just 40 days old, yet his short life has already been filled with pain and suffering. He was born in Gaza under very difficult circumstances, and he has been diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening condition called biliary atresia.

This disease blocks the bile ducts in the liver, causing severe jaundice, liver damage, and malnutrition. Doctors have confirmed that Fahed’s only chance of survival is through a liver biopsy and urgent surgery (Kasai procedure) – something that cannot be done in Gaza due to lack of resources.

Time is critical. Doctors have stressed that Fahed needs this surgery before 2 months of age. Without it, his liver will fail, and he will not survive.

Medical Urgency

Fahed’s blood tests show dangerously high levels of bilirubin and liver enzymes. His ultrasound was inconclusive, but all signs point to biliary atresia. He has already been officially referred abroad for urgent surgery because Gaza hospitals cannot perform the operation.

️ Family’s Struggle

The Al-Masry family is living in extreme poverty:

They currently live in a dilapidated tent in Khan Yunis. They have no source of income and struggle to find enough food for their children. The family often relies on scraps of food, but it’s never enough for 6 people.

Despite these unbearable conditions, the family is fighting to save baby Fahed’s life.

Health wise Fahad is a bit unstable. He consumes a lot of milk because he can’t breastfeed. It’s so important that Fahad gets enough formula each week and he is also in dire need of warm clothes as his body fat is low.
