The Redstone team is taking on the Tough Mudder; mud, obstacles, grit, and all to raise vital funds for those affected buy Guillain–Barré Syndrome.

Why? Because Guillain–Barré Syndrome (GBS) can strike anyone, at any age, at any time. It turns lives upside down in an instant. One day you’re walking, running, or playing with your kids; the next, you could be in hospital unable to move, breathe, or speak.

There’s no cure for GBS. Recovery is long, painful, and uncertain; it’s often accompanied by financial hardship, emotional strain, and the need for intensive rehabilitation.

What is Guillain–Barré Syndrome (GBS)? GBS is a rare and acute disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves, leading to weakness, paralysis, and sometimes respiratory failure. Early signs can include pins and needles, numbness, and muscle weakness – but without quick diagnosis and treatment (within 24–48 hours), the damage can be life-threatening.

Why We’re Getting Muddy for GBS Awareness is too low – many people (including medical professionals) have never heard of it, leading to dangerous delays in diagnosis. Lives are changed forever – while some recover fully, others face long-term disability, pain, and emotional challenges. Families struggle financially – many can’t work for months, sometimes years, while also facing high rehabilitation costs.

The GBS Foundation of Australia:

Provides emotional and financial support to patients and families. Funds rehabilitation sessions for those who can’t afford them. Raises awareness and educate healthcare professionals to avoid misdiagnosis. Supports research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of GBS. Helps with patient transport, counselling, and community reintegration.
