Hello! My name is Youssef. I grew up as the eldest of 6 boys with my loving parents in Gaza. I loved playing football, I played striker and support Zeitoun FC in Gaza and Real Madrid. I studied, played football, and worked in my family’s florist.

In May 2024, I was hit by shrapnel which injured my spinal cord, causing paralysis of my lower limbs. My life and my family’s life changed forever, as our home was destroyed, I could no longer walk, and medical care was made impossible by the siege conditions. My beloved father was martyred in May 2024. My mother then cared for me and my 5 younger brothers until March 2025, when I was evacuated with just my mother to Cairo, Egypt, for an operation on my spine. The operation alone could not fix my injury, and I am in great pain now, pain that prevents me sleeping at night. Knowing that my five younger brothers remain in Gaza without any parent also causes us great stress.

In Egypt we have no support from the state and rely on the help of an acquaintance. We have been provided with a wheelchair, and now we seek financial help to attend physical therapy sessions at the Physio Step Therapy Centre, Heleopolis, Cairo. The cost of the therapy is 90 USD/ 130 AUD month, and accommodation and living costs will be 500 USD/month total, including my transport to and from the therapy centre.

This therapy will enable me to be able to walk again and to live without this crippling pain. I am here to answer any questions you might have and to provide receipts (some evidence attached in the photos) for my costs. Thankyou in advance for your kindness.
