In the early 2000s, our Founder, Genaro Guevarra developed the Emergency Preparedeness Plan (EPP) for his organization, L’Arche Winnipeg, during the SARS epidemic. L’Arche Winnipeg, is a non-profit organization providing homes and programming for people with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.

In 2010, right after completing his RN Bridging Program at Red River College and obtaining his license to practice as an RN, Guevarra obtained a full-time employment at the Special Behaviour Unit of the Alzheimer Centre of Excellence at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Then, in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Guevarra saw what would the impact if his EPP would have at his workplace, should it had been implemented the moment the pandemic struck versus following the top-down chain of communication and command from government and health authorities.

The COVID-19 pandemic was the turning point in Guevarra’s career to hang up his stethoscope and bring his wealth of knowledge and 20+ years of experience into the community. Thus, he founded Morning Breeze HealthCare, Inc., (MBH) named after his hometown, “Morning Breeze” the place where he grew up in the southern part of the Philippines before moving to Winnipeg during his late teens in the late 1990s.

Witnessing first-hand the impact of Climate-Change, Guevarra made it his passion to laser-focus on the vulnerable populations- the seniors/elderly and the Indigenous and First Nations people. MBH mission and vision is aligned with the Calls To Action- Reconciliation Initiative, i.e., bridging the gap in access of health services and affordable housing. Affordable Housing that is climate-change ready and energy-efficient and sustainable.

In 2023, MBH was accepted into the Next-Zero Initiative 2050 of the Federal Government. MBH was the first health service organization in Canada to join under the SME Stream 3 Category at the time. Then in June of 2025, MBH became part of the first cohort of organizations to be a recipient of a $20,000 grant from the Strategic Sustainability Initiative, under the Manitoba Green Advantage program sponsored by The Manitoba Chamber of Commerce. The services will be provided by Green Economy Canada.

We have the property- Riding Mountain Inn- this is the reason why the founder, is urgently appealing for your generous support to raise $10,000 to kickstart our work to replace the roof, replace the windows into more energy efficient units and to upgrade our kitchen to meet the health requirements so we can cook and provide meals to our residents.
