Help a Mother in the Philippines Afford Medical Bills, Food, and Housing

My friend Erin Legaspi is a mother of 4 in the Philippines, and she is asking for our help. She has four beautiful children – 10 year old Arisha, 8 year old Cyrus, 4 year old Althea, and 3 year old Warren.

Cyrus, her 8 year old son, is in poor health and suffers from a variety of medical conditions, which Erin has provided me with documentation of. Cyrus went to the hospital on December 27th, 2024, due to an infection and fever. He suffers from chronic infections and has taken many courses of antibiotics. This reliance on antibiotics could have other health consequences, but they have no choice because of the recurring infections. In addition to chronic infections, he suffers from unexplained nosebleeds, swelling, and diarrhea.

Erin and her family are trapped in a vicious cycle in which she cannot afford child care, and therefore cannot work. This causes their living conditions to deteriorate, making it more and more difficult to find employment.

Erin has an urgent mutual aid request for medical diagnostics and treatment for her son’s symptoms, childcare, food, and housing for her family. She has reached out to many people online asking for help, and her pleas have fallen on deaf ears. She has been relying on whatever leftover food her friends have to feed her family. Some days they cannot afford to eat. As of early January, 2025, Erin is three months behind on rent.

Erin and her family’s campaign has been verified by me as a member of the Butterfly Effect Project mutual aid team (@butterflyeffect.project on Instagram). This campaign is on line 1345 of our ‘Verified Campaigns’ spreadsheet. The verification process included talking to Erin extensively about her situation, reverse searching the images she provided on Google, reviewing the medical documentation she sent me, and receiving a video from her of herself in which she says, “Hello, Amelia.”

Hello friends,

Keep reading for important updates on our friend, Erin, and see the attached documentation of my PayPal transfers of campaign funds to her (sensitive information redacted due to privacy concerns). Please note that the initial transfer was to her friend’s account (Jovel), who accepted the funds on her behalf due to an issue with her PayPal account, which she has since resolved.

The situation is still extremely difficult for Erin’s family. She is still looking for a job, and has had no sucess yet. Last time we spoke, she was scared their water and electricity would be cut off to their home because of unpaid bills (see attached documentation of her electricity bill). Her son, Cyrus, is still having health issues and unexplained nosebleeds. They also have been skipping meals due to lack of funds.

Erin is truly a lovely, kind-hearted person who just needs some help. Due to the conversion rates, a little bit of money to this campaign can make a big impact on their family. Please consider contributing!
