Help us raise £10,000 for Off the Record.
In October of this year Iggy Laurie passed away. I have known Iggy since we were 12 and we built our dreams together. He was my first love and closest friend and I shall be eternally grateful. I, amongst many others, have found these past months very difficult, and we all need things to do. So, in that spirit, I will be (along with 10 others) running the Conne Marathon along the West coast of Ireland. It is taking place on 21st April and we are aiming to raise £10,000 for Off the Record: A charity confronting the mental health epidemic amongst young people. I don’t know if this will do any good but it is something. If you feel up for it please join us on the run (there is the option to run a half marathon). Please contact our instagram @runforiggy.
As part of the fundraising, I shall be working with my dad and the The St Mary’s Brewery to make a beer for Iggy. We shall call it ‘Iggy’s Brew’ and even though he had no care for alcohol, he often came to St Mary’s Church to help me and my dad. As was custom for Iggy, he left an imprint in all places he went. We shall host a beer tasting in an attempt to raise money.
Iggy: He was tall and had a long neck. Sand coloured hair. A neck he was often worried about and would subtly hide behind black, worn Carhartt jackets. He gave me that jacket. He had darting eyes, I can’t remember their colour. Eyes that would look at you with light, darkness and then nothing at all. He was slim and had muscles in the right places. Not big muscles but muscles that could run a half marathon in 1 hour 38 minutes. He often sat cross-legged. He got hair cuts an ordinary amount of time. He sometimes smelled, but I always thought his smell was like James Dean. Or what I imagined James Dean to smell like. He wore clothes that looked like they were made for him. He wore corduroys and shirts. He didn’t like pictures of himself.
Iggy you were unreliable, you were sometimes lost inside yourself, you were hilarious, you were a true artist, you were sensitive, you were thoughtful, you were a bloody fast runner, you were joyous, you were my friend.
If you can, help us reach our goal of raising £10,000 and if you can’t afford it please share Iggy’s story.

Hello I empathize with your situation. While I can’t donate much through GoFundMe right now, I’d love to discuss an alternative, easier method to help you receive donations. Can we explore options for making it simpler for people to support your cause? Message me on this Email [email protected]
