The Jarriban University Hospital in noth central Muduq region of Puntland serves the surrounding villages as well as the people of Jariban. There is a population of approximately 20,000 inhabitants and the Jariban District has a total population of 39,207
Healthcare in Puntland is in great need of urgent support for medical supplies and equipment, following theongoing conflict. The damage to the healthcare system is severe and hospitals have had to halt critical services including dialysis, diabetic care, cancer treatment and vaccination services.
Jarriban Hospital is the only hospital with surgery facilities in the region. With a severe shortage of medical supplies and equipment, staff are forced to watch patients suffer or die unnecessarily from treatable problems. Due to lack of options, single-use items such gloves, surgical equipment and chest drains are washed and reused by hospital staff.
