We invite you to join us on a mission inspired by the timeless tale of Don Quixote and his loyal steed Rocinante, a mission of courage, resilience, and humanity. Today, we bring to you “Hope for Cuba,” a campaign aimed at transforming lives in Cuba.

Just as Rocinante carried Don Quixote on his ambitious quests, bicycles – the vital mode of transport in Cuba – bear the weight of its people. They reflect the resilience of the Cuban people who, much like Rocinante, soldier on in the face of adversity. Today, we, a dedicated team of Cubans and Canadians, are taking a leaf out of this narrative and are set to fuel our own determination to make a positive impact for Cuba.

But there’s a message…

Cuba, our beloved land of resilience and warmth, faces significant hardships today after the COVID pandemic. The food crisis and medical supply shortages are not just statistics; they are a lived reality for our friends and families in Cuba. Survival is a daily struggle as the scarcity of basic necessities continues to mount. Pets, too, share in this plight, affected by food shortages and lack of proper care.

How do we plan to improve it?

This situation calls for compassion, not critique. It is a plea for empathy and aid. We are channeling the spirit of Don Quixote, seeing the world not as it is, but as it could be. Our vision is a Cuba where hunger and medical supply scarcity are things of the past.

To turn this vision into a reality, we will cycle nearly 200 km from Ottawa to Montreal, symbolizing the determination and tenacity of the Cuban people. The funds raised from this endeavor will go directly towards providing much-needed food and medical aid in Cuba. Each pedal stroke brings us closer to a better tomorrow for Cuba.
