We are excited to announce that we have collected more essential goods in our effort to support projects in the Horn of Africa. As such we will once again need your support in raising the funds to send these essential goods to where they can do the most good.

Hospitals in Horn of Africa are desperate for modern equipment, whilst in Australia working equipment is regularly upgraded and replaced. Donations in Kind (DIK) a Rotary program, receives a large amount of working equipment for reuse in overseas locations – including Africa.

Transporting such equipment requires funds for shipping to the Horn of Africa. The cost for shipping each container to the Garacad Seaport or Berbera seaport is $15,000.

Support us to continue our endeavour to assist hospitals in the Horn of Africa.

The Rotary Club of Footscray in association with Donations in Kind wishes to transport three containers of medical equipment and textbooks to the Harar and Somali Regional States of Ethiopia.

With the club’s support, DIK has already sent containers to the Horn of Africa in recent years. The contents have included hospital beds, dialysis machines, surgical instruments, school desks and school clothes. The difference made has been dramatic.

The organisations we work with include Jugel General Hospital in Harar, and Jigjiga University Shiek Hassen Yebare Referral Hospital and the Somali State Olive Welfare Association in Jigjiga, the respective capitals of the Harar and Somali Regional States of Ethiopia. This team supervises the distribution of goods to designated hospitals in the region on the basis of need for specific items.

Past fundraisers have been extremely successful, and we hope that this success can continue for the benefit of those in need. You have enabled us to do our work effectively and that support is needed once again.

We are raising funds to cover the shipping expenses of a project that delivers essential goods to the Harar and Somali Regional States of Ethiopia. Unfortunately, the need has become even more urgent due to the dramatic increase in displacement throughout Ethiopia. With your generous support we can provide this aid to Ethiopia under these difficult circumstances.
