Reading to babies in the Neonatal ICU can help parents develop feelings of intimacy similar to those cultivated when home with a healthy newborn. Reading also helps promote brain development and growth.

The NICU in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center serves over 700 babies each year. They give away books to every baby and family who stays, but they are running out of books!! I am running a Books for Babies Drive in honor of three NICU grads who also happen to be some of the coolest little dudes I know!! I want to replenish the NICU’s stash so each baby served there can enjoy the benefits of being read to from the day they are born.
