This piece of equipment is named the ‘Tovertafel’ (Dutch for Magic Table) invented by Hester le Ride Phd whilst studying dementia, and is now being implemented in care homes across Europe because of how it improves quality of life of the residents.

The Magic Table helps break through apathy (thought to effect 90% of people with dementia) by stimulating both cognitive and physical activity whilst encouraging social interaction. This can create treasured moments with both family members and care givers.

The technology includes a box mounted to the ceiling by a bracket above a table. Inside the box is a high quality projector, infra red sensors, a speaker and a processor. This works collectively to project interactive games on to the table.

We have witnessed through our own training and research how amazing this equipment is, and now we want the residents of St Valery to benefit too!

Dementia has been in the media a lot recently, it effects many families and can be truly heart breaking – to put a smile on faces, and to see such interaction with such joy and wonder is priceless.

Unfortunately, the Magic Table comes at a high price. If you can give a donation, no matter how small, it all counts and means so much!
