Life-saving heart operation for Baloch woman

Balochistan is a country that has been struggling for independence since 1948. Baloch people are discriminated against, particularly in Pakistan controlled Balochistan, where civilians experience restricted freedom of movement, violence and abduction. Many people are forced to leave their homeland and it is often difficult for them to regularise their status in the countries where they seek refuge. Returning to Pakistani-occupied Balochistan is difficult, if not impossible for those targeted by the Pakistani authorities.

Fatima* has a heart condition which needs an operation immediately. She is living in the area of Balochistan controlled by Iran – where it is very difficult for Baloch people to get papers. This means she cannot access the public health system. There are no hospitals that can perform the surgery she needs in Pakistani-occupied Balochistan, and even so it would be impossible for her to return. As a result, she must go to a private hospital in Iran where this operation, which would save her life, costs £3400. She does not have any money to pay for it but she has no other options.

Three solidarity groups have come together to fundraise for Fatima* and our group has committed to raise £1000 in the next two weeks. Collectively we hope to cover the cost of this life-saving operation. With your help Fatima* will have the treatment she needs so urgently.
