Our daughter, Clara, has a genetic disease so rare that it doesn’t even have a name. She is one of a few hundred people in the world identified as having a mutation (or “change”) on her STXBP1 gene. As a result, she will have lifelong physical and intellectual disabilities. Clara is a gift and has taught us more than we could have ever imagined about what it means to live joyfully, celebrate life’s small victories, and love those around you. We owe her, and others who are impacted by gene changes, the chance to live their very best life – and in many cases save their life. If gene therapy and other genetic breakthroughs can do this, then let’s start putting one foot in front of the other!

As a new 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are looking to get off the ground by raising $50,000. The majority of the funds collected will be donated to organizations that are deeply involved in researching, treating, and curing genetic diseases.

Our goal is to cure genetic diseases within our children’s lifetime. That’s a long time and seems really hard, right? That’s exactly the point. Together, we can do hard things.

A BRAVE HEART BEHIND THE SCARS — QUEEN’S UPDATE To all our dear supporters, We want to share more about Queen, a young girl whose story continues to move and inspire us every day. Queen is just 11 years old, but she carries more pain than any child ever should. She has visible scars on her face, not just physical, but emotional ones too — reminders of the hardship and lack of proper care she has endured since she was very young. She lives with her single mother, who has done her best, but life has been difficult. Access to medical care, clothing, emotional support, and even schooling has always been a challenge. Despite all this, Queen is hopeful. Recently, when kind visitors came to meet her, she smiled the biggest smile we’ve seen in a long time. For a moment, she forgot her pain. She felt important. She felt loved. At Don’t Cry Organization, we are doing everything we can to raise funds for Queen’s treatment — medical help, psychological support, and her daily needs. We believe that scars do not define her — her strength does. And we want her to grow up knowing that she is beautiful, worthy, and cared for. We are calling on compassionate hearts around the world to help us make this happen. If you’ve already supported — thank you so much. Our goal is $50,000 by August and we’re fully confident that we will get there. Casey has been spreading the word about the Run Inspired fundraising campaign and recently visited Boulder, CO to be featured on the ‘We Are Superman’ podcast. This podcast is hosted by David Clark, a bestselling author and former 320 lb alcoholic turned sober warrior, plant-based Buddhist, and seasoned ultra-runner! The show has ~25K listeners per episode, so we’re hoping for some additional traction after folks have a chance to listen. The link to the podcast is below. It’s a little over an hour long but we think you’ll find it enlightening, inspiring, and will give you insight into Casey’s mindset and the mindset of others who chose to embark on 100-mile runs!
