Hello wonderful people,

This is quite hard for me to do, the idea of asking for help makes me uncomfortable especially when it comes to money but I’ve reached the point where I really have to ask for some support financially to help me get the surgery I need to move forward with my life.

I’m transitioning from female to male. I’ve been on hormones for almost 2 years which has boosted my confidence a great deal, helped me learn to love myself more, brought me closer to being who I really am and being more comfortable with the body I am in (Even with the con’s the changes are extraordinary and you certainly learn comfort in the parts that resemble more of what you feel) and I have a beard, maybe not lush and full but its there and I like my face more with it. I am currently in the process of saving for top surgery, however I have been struggling to find a job so savings are quite minimal. I have had my initial consultation with the Dr that will perform the surgery and been given a breakdown of costs.

This might seem like a small inconvenience to some but it definitely makes everyday thing’s quite difficult and being able to have that freedom to move about my everyday life without that continuous reminder would be life changing. I want that confidence in myself and the weight of it all (Not physically – ehe) can be overbearing and removes whatever confidence I do have.

Real talk: it’s not cheap transitioning. Between hormones, general healthcare expenses – going to Dr’s that isn’t known to help Lgbti+ is overwhelming, living a comfortable life can feel unattainable at times and job interviews seem just as scary as the Dr’s. I’ve been binding since 2015 which helps me be a bit more comfortable in my body but is only a temporary, surface level solution. At the end of the day every time I have to take it off there’s just an abundance of discomfort and unfortunately it can be dangerous to wear for more than 8 hours a day, it’s restricting and can cause some pain. The ultimate goal would be to have this done before the end of the year, hopefully not just wishful thinking.

I want to have the option to give back to those who’ve donated. I wish I could to everyone and how ever much but I don’t know how I’d go about doing that. I’m self taught drawer/sketcher (I don’t say artist because I’m yet to learn more before I believe I am an artist) so I’ve done a couple of watercolour paintings for certain amounts of donations as an option to receive. They are not the originals they will be prints of the original and later I will add more or new perks. The Math: $6035 – Out of pocket costs $500- Hospital access fee Anything raised above my goal will go towards recovery supplies and aftercare.
