The area of influence of the project, is geographically located in these coordinates: Latitude (14°52´37.578”) Longitude: (70°35´59.1144”). This is where the Territorial Prelature of Ayaviri is located. It was built on July 30th, 1958 through the Apostolic Letter “Ex illis Diocesibus”, which was written by Pope Pius XII. It includes the Provinces of Melgar, Carabaya and Sandia, the three Quechua cultures, which are part of the department of Puno.

The Prelature of Ayaviri has an extension of 32 575.66 km2 and 90% of it is missionary territory. Its geography and weather are adverse, and vary. Currently the population of this ecclesiastical jurisdiction is of 300 thousand inhabitants of which 90% are Catholics and 85% live in extreme poverty.

The mission of the Prelature of Ayaviri is to provide pastoral accompaniment to the people of the territory according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. As well as promoting personal, family and community development for the poorest people, giving priority to the most vulnerable (kids, elderly, handy capped, sick and abandoned), to help them live an adequate life.

The home for girls “María Auxiliadora” in Ayaviri is the only home that shelters girls from ages 5 to 18 that come from problematic families, some of them being orphans and in a situation of abandonment and abuse, here they are provided with the chance of having a place to live, to be educated and fed.

Based on the support that the home is receiving, the meals prepared are high in carbohydrates and low on protein and vegetables which are essential for a kid’s growth.

The girls are being provided with a very basic diet that is also deficient in nutrients, given the fact that the home´s budget is very limited.

They are given support by some of the girls’ families and with sporadic donations of volunteers and supporters.

There is a food related cooperation from the Municipality of Ayaviri, receiving donations every 3 months, but this is not enough for them.

Monthly sponsorship: US$ 400 Dollars

Annual sponsorship: US$ 4,800 Dollars

*We will provide the logistics organization of food purchases.

* Accounting.

* We will take care of the accounts and render semi-annual reports.

* Nutritional evaluations.

* Periodic assessments and an annual evaluation of girls’ nutrition improvement in coordination with the local hospital.
