Our super hero 5-year-old Gully had emergency brain cancer tumour surgery on 17th May 2018. He’s been a brave little boy and the surgery thankfully went well with the gifted surgeon and medical team at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, however there is a long, difficult journey ahead based upon the challenging results of the biopsy requiring further extended hospital stays for chemo treatments over the next 18 months. Gully’s parents Andrew and Renee are self-employed and will require extended time off to care for and be with Gully during his hospital stays, home schooling, etc., while also caring for their adorable 7-month-old baby boy Marlow.
Many of you have asked how you can help and contribute, and therefore we’ve set up this site if you’d like to make a monetary donation to help Andrew and Renee cover living expenses during this difficult period, any medical expenses not covered, and expenses for any adaptations needed to their home to prepare for Gully’s long journey ahead. Andrew and Renee are already blown away with all the love and tremendous help and support everyone has already provided in so many ways and thank you all from the bottom of their hearts.
CREDIT/DEBIT CARD OPTION: Credit/Debit card donations globally can be made via this site chuffed.org which will then be directly transferred to Andrew & Renee’s bank account via payment processer Stripe Inc.
DIRECT BANK TRANSFER OPTION: If you prefer to donate via direct bank transfer to Andrew & Renee’s bank account, please contact us at [email protected] and we’ll send you their bank account details for domestic and global bank transfers. Direct bank transfer donations will also be added to the total amount raised shown on this site as we can manually add any offline donations and can do so listing your name or anonymously per your preference.

Update from Gully’s mother Renee: Happy 6th birthday to the coolest, bravest, kindest, funniest kid ever who has had one hell of a year. We had THE BEST time at home with friends and family. Perfect weather with the best people. So grateful. (Gully’s 6th birthday was on 26 Dec 2018). And thanks for all the birthday love. (Renee’s birthday was on 25 Dec 2018). It has been one of the hardest years of my life (and I have had some hard ones) but it has been nice to be home with my family the last two days. I’ve received lots of lovely messages so thank you. I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who donated this year. With Gully’s intense treatment since May, we haven’t be able to work (Andrew was able to do a few projects recently thankfully) so we have literally lived off the dontations and the monumental support we have received from so many be it food, babysitting, prayers, love, healing spirit, or donations. Everyone’s generosity – including a lot from those I’ve never met – have kept petrol in the car, paid the hospital car parking (ridiculous!! – $10 a day is ok if you’re there for a day, not 7 months), food on the table, paid bills, and kept us from going insane. We are eternally grateful. Merry Christmas everyone and wish you all a safe and healthy New Year. Update from Gullyville Family: Gully will start Radiation Therapy in the New Year. Please keep our amazing Super Hero Gully in your hearts, thoughts, and prayers, as he continues to so bravely fight his battle. Much Love, The Family of Andrew, Renee, Gully & baby Marlow 27 December 2018

Update from Gully’s mother Renee: Volunteering. I’ve always thought I would do it but never had the time. Just wanted to share our experience with volunteers over the past 5 months. At the Children’s Hospital there is almost like this army of volunteers who are there every day. A nurse can call one any time and they are usually there within minutes. They can sit with Gully if we have a meeting or need to go and get a coffee or walk/play with Marlow if he is tearing up the ward. They can be your expected older ladies doing their bit, or like the awesome early twenties guy who happened to pop his head in yesterday to give me a break just as I was trying to set up a Wii (the Wii is also a donation for kids at the hospital to use). Today Gully had the best time with a lady Gail as they both tried to play Super Mario World on the Wii – I’m not sure who was having more fun. Volunteers come on weekends from Koala Kids and run games and cook pizzas for everyone in the ward. They also keep the kitchen stocked with teas and give the kids games and activities every Monday. The Children’s Cancer Foundation put on morning teas, have massages, play groups, and tickets to stuff as well as a full time staff member in the ward just to help link families in with their support work. The list is actually too big to keep going, but it is insane to think people give up their time to help families like ours who basically live at the hospital. Food for thought. So much gratitude. 17 October 2018

Update from Gully’s mother Renee: For everyone who has been continuing to send us love, food, support, babysitting, donations and healing spirit – just an update. Gully is almost mid-way through his third round of chemo. We are pleased to say so far he is travelling much better than the first round. He went to school for a few hours twice last week and had THE BEST time!! We’ve managed a few days at home all together and celebrated Grandpa’s 70th on Saturday. If we ever need a reminder to stop whinging and complaining about our first world problems then think of Gully. He is being so brave in the face of so much hospital time and yucky procedures. He is still dancing and laughing and getting super excited about things as he always has (most of the time). He likes to charm the Doctors and anaesthetists by counting in Mandarin and telling knock knock jokes. We still have a long way to go but we are doing it. We send our eternal thanks for all your support!!!! 12 August 2018

Update from Gully’s mother Renee: Not a great shot but a few days at home scootering with the neighbours, playing with Marlow and school friends and generally just being together has been amazing. Off to start again tomorrow. Wish us luck for an easier round of chemo this time. The past 6 weeks have been brutal. Gully put it so beautifully “Mum, I just want feel home”. Not in the belonging sense but the sensory sense. Thanks again to the monumental support we have received be it food, babysitting, prayers or donations. What incredible people you all are Gully, Marlow & friends – 14 July 2018

An update from Gully’s mother Renee: What a week! I never would have thought it would be so rough on Gully. He has had his first week of chemo on what is a gruelling protocol. At least he looks the part in this amazing cape thanks to Ele and Molly sent up from Tasmania. The love, support and generosity with the fundraiser has blown us away. We’d like to express our immense gratitude and thanks. Please share with those who have contributed. We will aim to keep everyone updated. Please send him your love.
