Earlier this week we had some earth shattering news, that Mike is battling advanced bone cancer. As you can imagine this has come as a massive shock to the whole family, and we are now scrambling to try and proivde the best level of care for Mike in the time he has left with us. He is now wheelchair bound, as his condition detoriates, he is no longer able bodied.

This is a cruel addtional to our family’s already difficult journey, with Mike having dealt with Klinefelter syndrome for his entire life, that has limited his congitive ability, and meant he has never been able to talk or live a “normal” life, and more recently Tanya being diagnosed and battling with breast cancer.

With this newest challenge and change in circumstances comes another added pressure both emotionally and finacially on our family, to make his time left with us here as comfortbale, and enjoyable as possible. We start a lower dose of chemotherapy on Monday to help slow the progression, however as you can imagine there are a number of alterations, additions and issues we need to address as a family throughout the home, and medical bills are mounting.

So whilst this is the hardest time of our lives, we are asking for your help to provide him with the best care possible while he is still with us. We are asking for all those who know the family well, those who have played with or against Tanya (his sister) within the football family, those who may never have met Mike but want to help and arent sure what to do, to donate generousliy to his trust to help ease the financial burden on the family. No donation is too small, and all funds will go to payment of medical treatment, alterations to make the family home wheelchair friendly, transportation costs now he is no longer to utilise normal modes of transport, and any other mdecal costs associated with palliative home care.
